Core Technologies

What is Movement Science?

"…science or knowledge put into practical use to solve problems or invent useful tools in bio mechanics, excercise physiology, motor control and whole body integretion".

The Ishangi Method

Created by Kehinde Ishangi—dancer, choreographer, educator, and movement scientist. Developed over three decades of intensive dance training, concert theater performance, academic research and accreditation, specialized training and certification, mentoring and apprenticeship—The Ishangi Method™ combines the latest advancements in bio-mechanics which assist you in understanding how to work with YOUR body and it’s innate intelligence. Proven somatic technologies to enhance your mobility, flexibility and strength, a re-defined dance body aesthetic that will affirm YOUR unique gifts, and innovative meditative movement processes—both ancient and modern—teaches you to use YOUR body as a vehicle to insure personality integration and personal growth.

The Urban Enneagram

The Enneagram is an ancient map of consciousness, combined with modern psychology, that provides a key to understanding the thoughts, feelings, motivation and behavior that create your personality, contextualize your experiences and most importantly move or restrict your body. Used as an integrative process our somatic ennegram coaching extends and supports the work done in the studio into all areas of your development.

Developed for active urban professionals, creatives and change agents. Private, group coaching, and workshps available.

Gyrotonic Expansion System

GYROKINESIS® exercises allow one to work on the entire body through seven natural elements of spinal movement: forward, backward, left side, right side, left twist, right twist and circular, as well as all other joint articulation.  This approach systematically and gently works the joints and muscles through rhythmic and undulating movements. These movements stimulate the body's internal organs while different corresponding breathing patterns are integrated along with the movements. Fluidity is the key. Postures are not held for long periods of time but are smoothly and harmoniously connected through the use of breath, making exercises appear and feel like a dance or swimming.

GYROTONIC® exercises offer complete freedom of movement. Exercises are performed on the Professional Pulley Tower, and the system is fully adjustable and can meet the needs of many people with varying body types and levels of strength. The tower allows users to stretch and strengthen muscles simultaneously stimulating and strengthening connective tissues in and around the joints with corresponding breathing patterns, thus enhancing aerobic and cardiovascular stimulation and promoting neuro-musculuar rejuvenation.

The International
Franklin Method®

The Franklin Method™ uses dynamic imagery, anatomical embodiment and educational skills to create lasting positive change in your body and mind.

One of the greatest discoveries of the 21st century is the plasticity of the brain; that the lives we live shape the brain we develop. The Franklin Method is at the forefront of practical neuro-plasticity; showing you how to use your brain to improve your body’s function. It teaches you how to harness the transforming power of the mind. It can be applied to improve all of your abilities. It all starts with the knowledge that we have the power to change.

The Franklin Method™ teaches dynamic alignment and how to move your body with maximum efficiency to keep your body youthful and energized. Your whole body is part of a symphony of coordinated movement. In a sense, your posture is reinvented at every instant. In every moment, the ideal combination of limbs, joints, gravity, moving parts, connective tissue, and muscle must be found and directed by your brain and nervous system.
